RETURN TO NEW YORK
On his return to New York, Kenny met again with Casement, going to lunch in the same restaurant they had lunched at on the day of Kenny's departure, six weeks earlier. Commenting on all that had happened in the intervening weeks, and speculating on the possibilities of the near future, Casement was boyishly enthusiastic. According to Kenny, he appeared to have no foreboding of the tragic fate awaiting him as a consequence of his own mission to Europe, undertaken a few days later.
Kenny also met with Clan-na-Gael leaders Joe McGarrity of Philadelphia, and John A. McGarry, of Chicago, to inform them of the mission.
